Jari Petteri Viuhkola (born February 27, 1980 in Oulu ) is a former Finnish ice hockey player who spent almost his entire career at Kärpät Oulu , winning the Finnish championship five times .
Career
Jari Viuhkola already played in the junior division for Kärpät Oulu , for whose professional team he made his debut in the SM-liiga in the 2000/01 season . Already as a youth player Viuhkola was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 1998 in the sixth round as a total of 158th player by the Chicago Blackhawks , for which he however never played. Since his debut, the attacker with Kärpät has won the championship title in the SM-liiga four times in 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2008, was runner-up in 2003 and 2009 and third in 2006. In addition, he reached the final of the IIHF European Champions Cup twice with Kärpät in 2005 and 2006 , with the two Russian representatives HK Awangard Omsk and HK Dynamo Moscow being defeated. After he appeared as assistant captain of the team from 2002 and even appeared as team captain in the 2006/07 season, Viuhkola switched to Kajaanin Hokki in Mestis , the second highest Finnish ice hockey league, at the beginning of December 2014 . For his home club he had made almost 600 league appearances for the men's team over the years. For Hokki, he only played five games before leaving the club.
In January 2015, he officially ended his career due to an injury.
International
For Finland Viuhkola took part in the Junior World Championships 2000 , as well as the A-World Championships in 2005 , 2006 and 2007 . At the 2006 World Cup, Viukola won the bronze medal with his team, and in 2007 he was runner-up with Finland.
