The Jarramas is a 1900 built, today's museum ship of the "Marinmuseum" in Stumholmen, Karlskrona ( Sweden ). For the first 47 years of her career, the Jarramas served as a sailing training ship .

history

In 1900, three years after the construction of in composite construction started Najaden that Örlogsvarvet (Navy Yard) built in Karlskrona, a sister ship with fully steely hull, Jarramas . It was the shipyard's last new building. The name is Turkish and translated means The Cheeky . In the following 47 years, the small full ship was used to train young sailors. Time and again, it turned out to be an extremely fast ship, reaching speeds of 16  knots and a measured peak value of 18.3 knots. In 1947 the schooners Gladan and Falken replaced the ship in its task, and the Jarramas was laid up .

After its decommissioning, the Karlskrona municipality acquired the ship in 1950 and used it as a floating tourist attraction and café until 1997. In 1997 the town's naval museum received the traditional sailor as a gift on the occasion of its inauguration. During its time as a museum ship, a five-year campaign to raise the funds of around 12 million crowns necessary for the restoration began .
