Jason Hughes

Jason Hughes (born 1971 in Porthcawl , South Wales ) is a British actor. He gained notoriety with his roles in the BBC series This Life as Warren's lawyer (1996–1997) and in the police series Inspector Barnaby as Police Officer Ben Jones (2005–2012). He has been married to actress and jewelry designer Natasha Dahlberg since 2005 , the couple have three children and live in Brighton .

Career

Hughes was a skilled rugby and cricket player as a schoolboy, but decided to pursue an acting career. He graduated from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and received his first leading role as the gay lawyer Warren on the British television series This Life . After minor roles in television series such as Waking the Dead and Mine All Mine , he was given a leading role as police officer Ben Jones in the crime series Inspector Barnaby in 2005 . In 2012 he left the series for personal reasons. In an interview, Hughes stated that the very time-consuming filming had affected his health and that he needed a break. After his last day of shooting for the Barnaby series in September 2012, he returned to Bath for the first time in eight years . In November he went to the United States for a few weeks , where he found an agent and met up with friends from studying acting like Michael Sheen and Matthew Rhys . After Christmas 2012 he returned to the UK to attend various auditions. Eventually he decided to go to the theater and was seen in the play In the next room or the vibrator play at the St. James Theater in London from November 2013 to January 2014 , and in 2015 he played the role of Second Lieutenant Ralph Clark at the Royal National Theater in the play Our Country's Good by Timberlakewertebaker .
