Jason Tunks

Jason Tunks (born May 7, 1975 in London ) is a former Canadian discus thrower who also competed in the shot put at the beginning of his career .

Athletic career

In the discus throw at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, he was eliminated from the qualification.

Also in the discus he was ninth in 1997 at the World Athletics Championships in Athens and won bronze at the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur . At the Pan American Games in Winnipeg , he took bronze in the discus throw and was fifth in the shot put. The discus throw of the World Cup in Seville failed in the preliminary round.

Now concentrating on the discus, he finished sixth at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney.

In 2001 he won the Francophonie Games and finished ninth at the Edmonton World Cup . The following year he won silver at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester and was fifth at the World Cup in Athletics in Madrid . In 2003 he won the Pan American Games in Santo Domingo and was eleventh at the World Cup in Paris / Saint-Denis .

At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, he did not get past the first round.

In 2005 he finished eighth at the World Championships in Helsinki . In 2006 he won silver at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne and was ninth at the Athletics World Cup in Athens .
