history

The place Werendin was first mentioned 1680-1700 by the scholar Marsigli when he belonged to the district of Werschetz . On the Josephine land survey of 1717, Werendin is a Wallachian village with 30 houses. After the Peace of Passarowitz (1718), when the Banat became a Habsburg crown domain , Werendin was part of the Temescher Banat . Firendia is entered on the Mercy map of 1723 and Ferendia on the Griselini map of 1774 .

The lords of Ferendia included Ladislaus Markovics in 1880, Count Zichy in 1885, Count Adolf Schönberg in 1890 and Baron Szent Ivanyi-Oszkar in 1900. The latter was expropriated during the land reform of 1923, his estate was parceled out and sold to the farmers in the village.
