The Jaunay is a river in France that runs in the Vendée department in the Pays de la Loire region . It rises near the hamlet of Le Châtelier , in the municipality of Venansault , generally drains in a westerly direction, swings to the northwest in its estuary, runs parallel to the coastline for the last five kilometers at a distance of around 800 meters and flows into the urban area of Saint after a total of 46 kilometers -Gilles-Croix-de-Vie from the left into the estuary of the river Vie , which shortly afterwards reaches the Atlantic Ocean itself . Just above the actual estuary, the Jaunay is protected from the tides by a gate .
