Javier Hagen

Javier Hagen (born January 13, 1971 in Barcelona ) is a Swiss-Spanish singer ( tenor and countertenor) and composer specializing in new music .

Hagen grew up in Germany, Spain and Switzerland and studied singing with Roland Hermann , Alain Billard and Nicolai Gedda as well as composition with Heiner Goebbels and Wolfgang Rihm in Zurich, Karlsruhe and Ferrara. Together with Ulrike Mayer-Spohn he forms the duo UMS ´n JIP . Javier Hagen is director of the New Music Festival Forum Wallis and has been President of the Swiss Society for New Music SGNM (ISCM Switzerland) since 2014 . In 2013 he received the Culture Prize of the Canton of Valais. He worked with composers such as Beat Furrer , Aribert Reimann , Mauricio Kagel and Guo Wenjing and premiered more than 300 works; his oeuvre, primarily vocal works, amounts to over 70 compositions.
