Act

Javier Muguerza's “philosophical socialization” took place “at the turn towards analytical philosophy and its opposition to the traditionalism of the Franco regime. His philosophy was therefore very strongly influenced by the tradition of practical philosophy , which is influential in Spain and which is highly aware of its time-relatedness. He shared the skepticism of many Spanish philosophers against the ultimate justification strategies in the succession of classical German philosophy. On the other hand, Muguerza, alluding to the Spanish Jewish philosopher Maimonides, profiles an ›ethic of uncertainty‹ and ›perplexity‹, which assumes that catastrophes like Auschwitz , the Gulag or Hiroshima are closely linked to modern thinking and consequently consistently positive have disavowed representable concept of reason. Reason can therefore only be asserted today, if at all, practically and in consciousness, even on the basis of this experience that obscures it. ”“ Muguerza, who is less and less willing to accept being classified as an analytical philosopher, has above all in his Confrontation with Jürgen Habermas and John Rawls increasingly turned to ethics .
