Jay-Alistaire Frederick Simpson (born December 1, 1988 in Enfield ) is an English football player . From 2006 to 2010 the striker was in the extended squad of the English first division club Arsenal .

Career

Simpson joined Arsenal FC's youth boarding school at the age of nine . After training in the club's youth teams, the attacker slipped into the capital's club's reserve squad for the 2006/07 season. A little later, coach Arsène Wenger appointed him to the first team. On October 14, 2006 Simpson sat for the first time on the bench of the Gunners during the League Cup against West Bromwich Albion . In order to give him match practice, the club officials decided at the beginning of the 2007/08 season to loan the talented offensive player to Millwall FC . Simpson made his debut there on September 1, 2008 in a 2-1 win over Huddersfield Town . Four days later, he scored his first goal for Millwall in a competition for the Football League Trophy . In the same month, on September 29, he also scored his first goal in Football League One , the third highest league in England. His contract should expire during the winter break. However, both clubs agreed on an extension until the end of the season. In 44 games for Millwall, Simpson scored eight goals and was voted "PFA Fans' League One Player of the Year" by the fans for the Player of the Year within League One. In retrospect, Simpson saw his loan to Millwall as a good decision and personal development. The Arsenal coach also watched the attacking player and gave him hope for the Premier League team after his return to London. Simpson made his debut for the professional team in the 6-0 victory in the League Cup against Sheffield United . He came on in the 71st minute for Nicklas Bendtner . On November 11, 2008 he was also in the League Cup for the first time in the starting lineup of the Gunners against Wigan Athletic . In the same game, Simpsons scored his first two goals for Arsenal. On December 29, 2008 the association extended with him. Nevertheless, he was awarded to league rivals West Bromwich Albion. On January 3, 2009, in the third round of the FA Cup , the striker made his debut for the Baggies . At halftime he was substituted on for Peterborough United against Robert Koren . In the replay, on January 13, Simpson scored his first goal for West Bromwich. The young talent scored his first goal in the Premier League on January 31st against Hull City .

In August 2009, he joined the second division side Queens Park Rangers for an entire season on loan . There he scored the first two goals for the new club on his third appearance on September 19, 2009 in a 2-0 away win over Cardiff City . In total, he scored 12 goals in 39 league games for the club.

Jay Simpson has been playing for Hull City in the Football League Championship since August 19, 2010 . On August 31, 2011, he moved to Millwall FC on loan .

Simpson appeared several times for English U-17 and U-18 selection teams.
