Johann Friedrich Lobstein (medic, 1777)
Johann Friedrich Georg Christian Martin Lobstein (the younger, also: Jean Georges Chrétien Fréderic Martin Lobstein ; born May 8, 1777 in Giessen , † March 7, 1835 in Strasbourg ) was a German pathologist and anatomist . He was the nephew of the surgeon Johann Friedrich Lobstein and the son of the Alsatian theologian Johann Michael Lobstein .
In 1798 he became prosector and shortly afterwards director of the anatomical theater in Strasbourg. In 1802 he received his doctorate and in 1804 he began lecturing on anatomy at the University of Strasbourg . In 1806 he became first obstetrician at the Bürgerhospital in Strasbourg and teacher at the department's midwifery school.
In 1813 he founded a pathological museum in Strasbourg. In 1821 he was elected a member of the Leopoldina .
In 1833 he coined the term arteriosclerosis .
