Jean-Louis Ravenel
Jean-Louis Ravenel (born March 6, 1943 in Noyen-sur-Sarthe ) is a former French racing driver .
Racing career
Jean-Louis Ravenel and his brother Jacky , born in 1944 , were known as the Ravenel Fréres in France in the 1970s . The two had two other brothers and a sister. Her father ran a company that manufactured wooden parts for chalets . He was also a member of a jazz formation called Sparks , which had nothing to do with the American rock band of the same name .
Jean-Louis Ravenel was considered the more talented of the two brothers and drove in 1968 in the Renault R8 Gordini Cup , a one-make cup for young drivers. After a few more races on the racetrack, he was particularly successful in rallies . He drove for Claude Buchet's team and others in the French and Belgian rally championships, the European rally championships and, thanks to his starts at the Tour de Corse, also in the world rally championship .
He was also active on the circuit. With a few exceptions, he mainly competed in the Spa-Francorchamps 24-hour race and the Le Mans 24-hour race . At Spa, his best overall result was seventh in 1977 . He competed four times in Le Mans, three times with his brother as a team partner. The best placement was 14th in 1977 . The year before , he achieved a class win in the touring car class .
After the end of his active career, Jean-Louis Ravenel was Managing Director of Auto Sport Loisirs , a luxury vehicle and sports car rental company in Luçon .
