Jean-Marc Hoscheit (born October 11, 1958 ) is a Luxembourg political scientist and diplomat .

Hoscheit studied law and political science at the University of Strasbourg with corresponding degrees in both subjects. From 1982 to 1985 he worked as a research assistant and lecturer at the European Institute for Public Administration (EIPA) in Maastricht , and during this time also published some studies on the political system of the European Community. In 1986 he joined the foreign service of the Grand Duchy and held various positions in the Luxembourg Foreign Ministry and the diplomatic missions of the Grand Duchy , including as a representative in European Political Cooperation (EPC) and as Deputy Permanent Representative of Luxembourg to the European Union in Brussels (1989 to 1998 ).

In 1998 he was appointed Ambassador to France and Permanent Representative to the OECD and UNESCO . From 2003 to 2008 he was Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York . Back in Europe, Hoscheit was appointed ambassador to The Hague in 2008, from 2010 also accredited in Ethiopia and permanent representative of Luxembourg to the African Union (based in The Hague). Since September 4th 2012 he has been Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva .
