Jean-Marie Lovey CRB (born August 2, 1950 in Orsières ) is a Swiss clergyman, former provost of the hospice on the Great St. Bernard and Bishop of Sion .

Life

Jean-Marie Lovey studied philosophy and theology at the University of Friborg . On October 27, 1971, he made his profession in the Congregation of the Great Saint Bernard. On June 15, 1977 he was ordained a priest . Lovey was a chaplain at various universities, then prior , later provost. On February 4, 2009 he became Superior General of the Congregation of Canons of Great St. Bernard.

On July 8, 2014, Pope Francis was appointed Bishop of Sion . The episcopal ordination received his his predecessor Norbert Brunner on 28 September of the same year. Co-consecrators of goods bishop of Lausanne, Geneva and Friborg , CHARLES MOREROD OP , and the Military Bishop of France , Luc Marie Daniel Ravel CRSV .
