Jean-Pierre Pradervand

Jean-Pierre Pradervand (born November 23, 1908 in Avenches ; † July 13, 1996 there , entitled to live in Corcelles-près-Payerne ) was a Swiss politician ( FDP ).

biography

Pradervand studied economics at the University of Lausanne and the University of Alabama . In 1932 he became a teacher at the Higher Commercial School in Lausanne and held this position until 1943. Then he was head of delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in North Africa , France and the United States for five years from 1943 to 1947 . In 1947 he returned to the commercial college, but now in the role of rector , which he was until 1966.

In 1949 Pradervand was elected to the Grand Council of the Canton of Vaud , of which he was President in 1958. A year later, in 1959, he was elected to the National Council and held this office until 1966. In that year he was elected by the population to the State Council of the Canton of Vaud , where he headed the Department of Education. Only one year later, the additional election to the Council of States took place . Pradervand resigned from the Council of State in 1974 and from the Council of States in 1975.

In the coordination of the education system in the Romandie Pradervand played an important role. He was also significantly involved in the planning and construction of the Lausanne-Dorigny university campus. He was also significantly involved in drafting the legal status law of the Catholic Church in the canton of Vaud.

He was supported by the ETH Lausanne for an honorary doctorate (Dr. hc) appointed as from the University of Lausanne in 1975th
