Jean Baptiste Pierre Tardieu
Jean Baptiste Pierre Tardieu , also known as Tardieu l'aîné , the firstborn, (* 1746 in Paris ; † September 18, 1816 ibid) was a French engraver and cartographer .

He learned his trade from his great-uncle Jacques Nicolas Tardieu . As one of the very first engravers, Jean Paptist turned mainly to engraving maps. In doing so, he showed great artistry. In addition to Maria Theresa , the clients were also Ludwig XVI. He even made maps for the German Hans Wilhelm von Thümmel , who was minister in the Duchy of Saxony-Altenburg at the time. He was the first in his family to carry the title of engraver geographer , i.e. cartographer.
