Jean Louis Bonnet

Jean Louis Bonnet (born January 9, 1805 in Bursins , † March 15, 1892 in Montpellier ) was a Swiss Reformed clergyman .

Life

Jean Louis Bonnet studied Protestant theology from 1825, first at the University of Lausanne and then at the University of Basel . In 1829 he was ordained and first worked as a field preacher for a Swiss regiment in France . In 1830 he took over a French pastor in London . Another five years later he became a pastor in the French Reformed community in Frankfurt am Main ; until 1881, almost fifty years, he worked there. The community received its own hymn book , in which Bonnet was involved. In addition, he translated a version of the Bible by Otto von Gerlach into French . When the founding meeting of the Evangelical Alliance took place in 1846 , Bonnet also took part. He died at the age of 87.
