Jeanne Dielman (Original title: Jeanne Dielman, 23 quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles ) is a Belgian - French film by the director and screenwriter Chantal Akerman from 1975 .
action
The widowed Jeanne Dielman lives with her son Sylvain in Belgium and earns a living from prostitution. Your life is orderly and uneventful, changes or inconveniences such as overcooked potatoes or a malfunctioning postage stamp machine worry you deeply. Even entertainment like listening to music only occurs at certain times, and even then the music acts like an intruder preventing them from doing their duties. The action runs over three days and shows everyday life such as making coffee, washing up or having dinner with your son. On the third day, she experiences an orgasm during sex with a customer that is otherwise not shown, whereupon she stabs the customer with scissors. The last shot shows Jeanne Dielman sitting at the dining table and thinking.
Reviews
Lexicon of international film : the portrait of a woman, developed with impressive consistency and severity, whose existence is empty and de-individualized. The film, shaped by the outstanding leading actress, is explained less by the plot and dialogues than by the compulsion of his images and the resulting emotional pull.
