Jeff Bloemberg (born January 31, 1968 in Listowel , Ontario ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who was active, among other things, for the New York Rangers in the National Hockey League .
Career
Bloemberg began his career in 1985 in the Canadian Junior League Ontario Hockey League with the North Bay Centennials . A year later, those in charge of the New York Rangers selected him during the 1986 NHL Entry Draft in the fifth round in a total of 93rd position. The defender stayed in the OHL until 1988, before moving to the International Hockey League for the Denver Rangers , the then New York Rangers farm team . In the 1988/89 season he completed his first nine NHL games for the Rangers, but scored no scorer point . In the following years Bloemberg could not prevail in the NHL and was mostly active in various farm teams of the New Yorkers. So he played in 1989/90 with the Flint Spirits in the IHL and from 1990 to 1992 with the Binghamton Rangers in the American Hockey League .
In the summer of 1992 Bloemberg first decided to get involved with the Tampa Bay Lightning when he was pulled during the 1992 NHL Expansion Draft by the newly formed team. Before the start of the 1992/93 season , he then moved to the Edmonton Oilers . With the Oilers he was not used in the NHL and wore the jersey of the Cape Breton Oilers 92 times in the AHL. After another year with the Springfield Indians , he signed for the 1994/95 season as a free agent with the Detroit Red Wings , which, however, only used him with their farm team at the time, the Adirondack Red Wings in the AHL. There he played until 1997 and then moved to the German Ice Hockey League for the Berlin Capitals . A season with the Revierlöwen Oberhausen followed before he ended his active ice hockey career in 1999 at the age of 31.
