Jeff Grace (composer)

Jeffrey D. Grace (born June 4, 1975 ) is an American composer .

Life

Jeff Grace grew up in Boston . During his youth he played in several rock bands. Later he oriented himself more towards jazz and classical music . He studied piano and composition at Berklee College of Music and Rutgers University . After completing his studies, he became assistant to the composer Robert Ruggieri in 1998 and worked with him on music for ballet and dance theater performances. From 2001 to 2004 he was the assistant to the Oscar-winning film composer Howard Shore , for whom he worked on films such as Gangs of New York and the Lord of the Rings trilogy .

With the animated film Herschel Hopper: New York Rabbit , Grace made her debut as a film composer in 2000. His actual feature film debut was in 2005 with the horror thriller The Roost, directed by Ti West . For West he later also composed the music for The Innkeepers - Hotel des Schreckens and In a Valley of Violence .

Grace lives and worked in New York City .
