Jeffrey Aloysius Van Note (* 7. February 1946 in South Orange , New Jersey ) is a former American American football poker players on the position of the center . He played his entire 18-year career with the Atlanta Falcons in the National Football League .

Early years

Van Note played college football for the University of Kentucky football team . He was used in the position of running back and defensive end .

NFL

Van Note was selected in the 1969 NFL Draft in the eleventh round as the 269th player. In his first season he played in the American Football Minor League for the Alabama Hawks . Atlanta Falcons coach Norm Van Brocklin retrained Van Note to the center. Although he had absolutely no experience in the position, it became one of the best centers in NFL history to date. He was elected to the Pro Bowl five times (1974, 1975, 1980, 1981, 1982). He played in Atlanta for 18 years and played 246 games, 226 as a starter. He played the second most games for this franchise , after Mike Kenn . For the 25th anniversary of the Atlanta Falcons, he was voted favorite player in franchise history by fans.

After the professional career

Van Note acted after his career as a co-commentator, at games of the Atlanta Falcons and of the college football team of the University of Kentucky, later also with the Tennessee Oilers . He was also a sports presenter on a local radio station in Atlanta , Georgia . In 2003 he planned to end his career as a co-commentator, but in 2004 he again commented on games of the college football team at the Georgia Institute of Technology . He still does this today.

On October 1, 2006, he was inducted into the Atlanta Falcons Ring of Honor .
