Jeffrey Richard de Corban Evans, 4th Baron Mountevans , (born May 13, 1948 in Gothenburg , Sweden ) is a British peer and ship broker . He was Lord Mayor of London for 2015/2016 .

Life

He is the second-born son of Richard Evans, 2nd Baron Mountevans, who died in 1974 . On the death of his older brother Broke Evans, 3rd Baron Mount Evans , on 21 December 2014 he inherited from his peerage Baron Mount Evans , who in 1945 Peerage of the United Kingdom for his grandfather Admiral Edward Evans, 1st Baron Mount Evans had been created .

Evans attended Pangbourne Nautical College. He studied economics at Pembroke College of Cambridge University , he graduated with a Master of Arts from. He is now director of shipbroker company H. Clarkson & Co . Since July 4th 2007 he has been Alderman of the City of London . Evans was Sheriff of London from 2012 to 2013 .

He has been a member of the House of Lords as a crossbencher since July 8, 2015 ; Mountevans was elected to the House of Lords in July 2015 when William Lloyd George, 3rd Viscount Tenby , who had voluntarily retired in accordance with the provisions of the House of Lords Reform Act 2014 , left hereditary peers for the Lords .

Since November 13, 2015, he has been Mayor of the City of London ( Lord Mayor of London ) for one year . On November 14, 2015, he completed his traditional introductory parade, the Lord Mayor's Show .

He is involved in various charitable organizations, including trustee of the King George's Fund for Sailors , President of the City of London Sea Cadets , Board Member of the White Ensign Association , Chairman ( Chairman ) of Maritime London , Past Prime Warden of the Worshipful Company of Shipwrights and Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (FICS). In 2015 he was also accepted as Knight of Justice in the Order of Saint John .

Marriage and offspring

Since 1972 he has been married to The Hon. Juliet Wilson, daughter of High Commissioner Richard Wilson, 2nd Baron Moran . With her he has two sons, The Hon. Alexander Evans (* 1975; heir to the title) and The Hon. Julian Evans (* 1977).
