Jeffrey Marc Monforton (born May 5, 1963 in Detroit ) is Bishop of Steubenville .

Life

Jeffrey Marc Monforton grew up in Westland and Wayne , Michigan , where he also attended Wayne State University . He entered the seminary and obtained a bachelor's degree in philosophy there in 1989. As an alumnus at the North American College in Rome, he obtained a licentiate in theology in 1992 after studying at the Pontifical Gregorian University . He was ordained a priest on June 25, 1994 by the Archbishop of Detroit , Adam Joseph Maida . Then he worked in the pastoral care of the diocese and as a teacher. From 1998 to 2005 he was secretary to Cardinal Maida and accompanied him to the 2005 conclave in Rome.

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him Bishop of Steubenville on July 3, 2012 . The Archbishop of Cincinnati , Dennis Marion Schnurr , donated him episcopal ordination on September 10 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Adam Joseph Cardinal Maida, Senior Archbishop of Detroit , and Allen Henry Vigneron , Archbishop of Detroit. His motto is Faith Comes from Hearing (“Faith comes from hearing” Rom 10.17  ESV ).
