Robert Daniel Conlon (born December 4, 1948 in Cincinnati , Ohio ) is an American clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic Bishop of Joliet, Illinois .

Life

Robert Daniel Conlon grew up in Hyde Park, a district of Cincinnati. On March 9, 1974, he received the at the Cathedral of Cincinnati diaconate and was later as a deacon working in a parish. He was ordained a priest on January 15, 1977 by the Archbishop of Cincinnati , Joseph Bernardin .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Steubenville on May 31, 2002 . The episcopal ordination donated him the Archbishop of Cincinnati, Daniel Edward Pilarczyk , on August 6th of the same year; Co- consecrators were Gilbert Ignatius Sheldon , Bishop Emeritus of Steubenville, and Sydney Anicetus Charles , Bishop of Saint George's in Grenada . His motto is Take Courage ("Be encouraged").

On May 17, 2011, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . to the Bishop of Joliet in Illinois. The official inauguration took place on July 14th of the same year. On May 4, 2020, Pope Francis accepted Robert Daniel Conlon’s resignation.
