Jens Bommert

Jens Bommert (* 1962 in Bremen ) is a German painter .

Life and work

Jens Bommert studied 1985/1986 at the École des Beaux-Arts , Besançon and then until 1992 at the University of the Arts Bremen with Karl Heinrich Greune . He has had his own studio in Bremen since 1992 and works as a freelance artist. He is also a freelancer at the Kunsthalle Bremen and a lecturer at the Bremen University of the Arts.

Jens Bommert mainly paints places with dynamism and activity such as football stadiums, horse racing tracks, sailing regattas or the stock exchange floor , but nudes and still lifes are also among his works.

In 2002, Jens Bommert led a group of eleven painters who created a five-meter-high oil painting on the Christmas story based on the Gospel of Luke and the depiction of the Christmas night by Bartolomé Esteban Murillo .

  • 2000: 2nd prize for painting from the Werner-Kühl-Foundation
