Jens Burman (born August 16, 1994 in Rätan ) is a Swedish cross-country skier .

Career

Burman, who starts for Åsarna IK, mostly took part in junior races until 2014. In February 2012 he started in Åsarna for the first time in the Scandinavian Cup and came 26th in the sprint. At the Junior World Championships 2013 in Liberec , he finished 57th over 10 km freestyle. The following year he won the silver medal over 10 km classic at the Junior World Championships in Val di Fiemme . He also achieved 13th place in the skiathlon and fourth place with the relay. At the beginning of February 2015 at the U23 World Championships in Astana he came in 34th place in sprint, in skiathlon in eighth place and over 15 km freestyle in seventh place. A week later he ran his first World Cup race in Östersund and finished 45th in the 15 km freestyle. At the beginning of the 2015/16 season he finished the Nordic Opening in Kuusamo in 58th place. At the following competition in Vuokatti he achieved his first top ten placement in the Scandinavian Cup with tenth place over 15 km classic. At the Tour de Ski 2016 , which he finished in 38th place, he got his first World Cup points with 27th place over 10 km freestyle in Toblach . At the U23 World Ski Championships in 2016 in Râșnov , he won the gold medal over 15 km classic. At the end of the season he finished 32nd in the Ski Tour Canada . In the 2016/17 season he came under the top ten three times in the World Cup and reached 26th place in the overall World Cup, 20th place in the Distance World Cup and second place in the U23 World Cup. At the Tour de Ski 2016/17 he finished 16th. At the season highlight, the Nordic World Ski Championships 2017 in Lahti , he finished 22nd in the skiathlon, 15th in the 50 km mass start race and 14th place over 15 km classic. His best placings at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang were 17th place in the skiathlon and fifth place with the relay.

In the 2018/19 season, Burman finished 26th in the Lillehammer Triple and 40th in the World Cup finals in Québec, and at the end of the season he finished 42nd in the overall World Cup. At the season highlight, the Nordic World Ski Championships 2019 in Seefeld in Tyrol , he ran 11th place over 15 km classic, tenth place in the 50 km mass start race and in the skiathlon and fifth place with the relay. In 2018 and 2019 he became Swedish champion together with the Åsarna IK relay . After 14th place in the Ruka Triple at the beginning of the 2019/20 season, he finished 12th in the Tour de Ski 2019/20 and 16th in the 2020 ski tour, thus reaching 14th place in the overall World Cup and 12th place. Rank in the Distance World Cup.
