Jens Groß

Jens Groß (* 1959 in Munich ) is a German acting director , university lecturer , author and director .

Live and act

After graduating from high school, Jens Groß first did an apprenticeship in bookselling . From 1982 to 1985 he made his first permanent engagement as an actor, assistant director and dramaturge at the Schauspielhaus Wien . He then worked as an actor, dramaturge and board member of the Reinhardt Ensemble in Vienna until 1988 . From 1988 to 1992 he studied German and philosophy in Regensburg . He was subsequently dramaturge at the Braunschweig State Theater (1992–1996), at the Lower Saxony State Theater in Hanover (1996–1999) and then until 2001 at the Bavarian State Theater in Munich .

From 2001 to 2009 he worked as chief dramaturge and deputy to the artistic director Elisabeth Schweeger at the Schauspiel Frankfurt . Subsequently, he was dramaturge at the Staatsschauspiel Dresden , head dramaturge at the Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin , chief dramaturge and deputy director at the Schauspiel Köln and from 2015 to 2018 head dramaturge and deputy drama director at the Theater Bonn .

He had lectureships at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt (dramaturgy) and at the Musikhochschule Frankfurt (directing), at the University of the Arts Berlin ( drama writing ) and at the Musikhochschule Leipzig (dramaturgy). In addition, he held several guest professorships at the German Literature Institute in Leipzig for scenic writing. Since 2015 he has been professor and course director for dramaturgy at the Academy for Performing Arts in Ludwigsburg .

Groß has been acting director at Theater Bonn since the 2018/19 season.
