Kaufmann, who started for SV Baiersbronn , made his international debut on December 14, 2002 at the FIS race in Klingenthal . From January 2003 he started in the B-World Cup of Nordic Combined. After rising performances, he made his debut in the Nordic Combined World Cup on December 30, 2005 . He completed his most successful season with the 2006/07 season , where he reached 33rd place in the overall World Cup ranking. In the Sprint World Cup overall ranking, Kaufmann came in 35th. At the 2007 Winter Universiade in Pragelato , he won the silver medal in the sprint behind Yūsuke Minato . Subsequently, he did not achieve any more successes in the World Cup, which is why he started again in the B World Cup from January 2008.
