Jens Triebel

Jens Triebel (born March 19, 1969 in Suhl ) is a non-party German local politician and was Lord Mayor of Suhl from 2006 to 2018 .

After completing school at the Lauterschule in Suhl, Triebel completed vocational training as a toolmaker in the Suhl electrical equipment factory from 1985 to 1987 . At the sports grammar school in Oberhof , he obtained his university entrance qualification in 1992, then studied forestry in Tharandt at the Technical University of Dresden . In 2002, the qualified forest manager successfully completed his dissertation in the field of forest economics. He then worked as a research assistant at the Professorship for Forestry and Wood Management in Eastern Europe.

Triebel ran as a single applicant for the local elections in May 2006 in Suhl and surprisingly won it with 52.7 percent of the votes in the first ballot. During the local elections on April 22, 2012, he again achieved an absolute majority of 50.7% in the first ballot and was thus confirmed in office. On April 29, 2018, he was defeated in the second round of local elections against the CDU applicant André Knapp .

Sports

Triebel is an ambitious climber and alpinist. He is a board member of the community of interest climbing Thüringen eV In addition to numerous first ascents in the Thuringian Forest , z. B. on Falkenstein , and in Saxon Switzerland , z. B. Jubiläumsturm - Arena of Vanities "Xc" ( Saxon ) together with Carsten Beichler in 2005, he achieved several successful alpine ventures:

In 2004 he turned back just below the summit of Nanga Parbat .
