Life

He mainly used the Low German language. As a young man he learned this self-taught. Originally he came from a Danish-speaking family.

Andersen was the son of the farmer and village musician Jens Peter Andersen. He completed his teacher training as a preparer in Aabenraa and as a seminarist in Hadersleben . In 1914 he enlisted for military service in World War I, from which he returned wounded. In 1919 he passed the teacher examination in Tondern and initially held a teaching post in Aabenraa. After the referendum in Schleswig in 1920 about the citizenship of Schleswig, he moved to Hohenwestedt , where he also held a teaching post. After his marriage to a teacher's daughter in 1921, he was transferred to Wenkendorf on Fehmarn , where he worked as a teacher at a one-class school from 1922. From 1939 to 1945 he was a soldier in the Second World War and after it ended in an internment camp until 1947. After his return he worked as a teacher in Wenkendorf until his retirement in 1962. After his retirement he moved to Itzehoe, where he died in 1974 due to an illness.
