Jeremy Transue (born June 1, 1983 in Catskill , New York ) is a retired American ski racer . He was particularly successful in the fast downhill and super-G disciplines . He won two races in the Nor-Am Cup and the downhill classification in the 2007/08 season .

Career

Transue took part in FIS races for the first time in December 1998 and only two weeks later the first starts in the Nor-Am Cup followed . He scored his first points in the Nor-Am Cup on January 6th, 2000 by finishing 27th in the giant slalom on Hunter Mountain , where he learned to ski and where he competed in his first races as a child. In the 2001/02 season he was able to place himself in the top 20 several times. At the Junior World Championships in Tarvisio in 2002 , he just missed a medal in fourth in the downhill.

In 2002, Transue was added to the roster of the US Ski Association. In the 2002/03 season he got his first podium in the Nor-Am Cup. He finished second in the first Super-G of Lake Louise and third in the first Super-G of Le Massif , which brought him to third place in the Super-G classification. With a total of nine top 10 placements in the Super-G, the downhill and the giant slalom, he came ninth in the overall standings. He also performed well at the 2003 Junior World Championships in France, where he was fifth in the giant slalom and in the combined. In the next winter he could not quite match the results of the previous year with five top 10 places. At the end of the season he reached the US Championships in Alyeska behind Bryon Friedman in second place in the downhill. A few days later he suffered a knee injury in the giant slalom. The 2004/05 season began with three top 10 finishes in the Nor-Am Cup, but in January he had to end the season due to a new injury. Also in winter 2005/06 he was unable to contest races due to a cruciate ligament injury.

In the 2006/07 Nor-Am-Cup season , he finished third in Panorama’s second Super-G and was on the podium for the first time in almost four years. He celebrated his first victory on December 7, 2007 in the second descent from Lake Louise. The day before, he had finished fifth in the first of the two season runs, which meant that he could win the downhill classification in the 2007/08 season . The second victory followed four days later in Panorama’s Super-G. At the end of January, Transue was seriously injured again. He suffered a cruciate ligament rupture in a European Cup Super G in Sarntal / Reinswald and had to end the season.

In the winter of 2008/09 , Transue made its first World Cup races on the slopes of Lake Louise, Beaver Creek and Wengen , but did not score any World Cup points with a 50th place. Six more World Cup starts followed at the beginning of the 2009/10 season . His best result was 34th place in the Super-G of Val Gardena , so he was again without World Cup points. From the turn of the year he could no longer participate in competitions due to injury. Transue retired from active ski racing and became a trainer at the Green Mountain Valley School.
