Jeroen Willems (born November 15, 1962 in Maastricht , † December 3, 2012 in Amsterdam ) was a Dutch actor and singer .

Life

Jeroen Willems received his acting training at the Theater Academy in Maastricht and began his stage career in 1985 with the Hollandia theater group under the direction of Johan Simons , where he made his debut in Franz Xaver Kroetz ' Die Bauern . From 1997, Willems had great international success with the solo piece Two Voices , performed in several languages , in which he played four different characters. Willems has been working as a freelance artist since 2004 and has frequently appeared on German-speaking stages. He played at the Wiener Festwochen and the Salzburg Festival or at the Münchner Kammerspiele , where he a. a. as Bavarian King Ludwig II. in Ludwig II. based on the film of the same name by Luchino Visconti .

Jeroen Willems also worked extensively in front of the camera and has appeared in numerous films and series since 1991. In 2004 he had a supporting role in Ocean's 12 , directed by Steven Soderbergh . In Germany you could u. a. in the series The Godmother - No Way Back , The Patriarch and in two Tatort episodes.

In addition to acting, Jeroen Willems also made a name for himself as an interpreter of songs by the Belgian chansonnier Jacques Brel . In 2004 he received the Dutch theater award Louis d'Or for the theater production Brel, de zoete Oorlog and from 2006 went on an international tour with Brel 2 .

On December 3, 2012, Jeroen Willems collapsed on stage during rehearsals for a gala event to mark the 125th anniversary of the Carré Theater in Amsterdam and died on the way to the hospital.
