Reviews

"Adaptation of a classic Dutch book for young people, which tells an exciting travel and initiation story in a straightforward and straightforward manner, whereby external visual values take a back seat in favor of lovable humanity."

“After a Dutch bestseller for young people, an extremely exciting medieval adventure was born with everything that goes with it: knight fights, nasty villains, a lovely beautiful, weird fellow and a helpful friend. A gripping adventure is effectively told here without any big bang effects. The only downer: the city the hero comes to clearly comes from the Baroque era. Director Pieter Verhoeff ('The Lighthouse') could certainly have found a better venue. "

“This film is disarmingly simple, downright friendly and innocent in relation to expensive Hollywood spectacles like 'Lord of the Rings' or 'The Chronicles of Narnia', which are aimed at a similar audience. 'The Letter for the King' is more likely to fascinate the under-twelve, the older ones probably want a little more tension, at least a bit of believable action and a few more intelligent main characters. But you won't be angry with this film either. He's just too nice for that. "

“Scenes, imposing castles and a cleverly chosen cast cast a spell over the audience. So it is up to the last minute to cheer for the squire Tiuri, who has to bring an important message to the king at great risk. [...] This varied journey skilfully combines classic fairy tale elements with an exciting story about friendship and kindness, making a delightful adaptation. "
