Jerry Dumas
Jerry Dumas (actually: Gerald Dumas ; born June 6, 1930 in Detroit , Michigan ; † November 12, 2016 in Greenwich , Connecticut ) was an American author and cartoonist .
life and work
After graduating from Arizona State University with a degree in English literature , he worked for Mort Walker as an Inker on the comic strips Beetle Bailey and Hi and Lois . With Walker he created the comic strip Sam's Strip , published from 1961 to 1963 , which he drew and which he revived in 1977 as Sam and Silo . In the early 1960s he also created cartoons for various magazines and newspapers such as The New Yorker and The New York Times . As an author, Dumas has published the novel An Afternoon in Waterloo Park and the children's book Rabbits Rafferty , which was published in German under the title Rabbit Kasimir .
Dumas was married and the father of three sons.
