Gerald "Jerry" Fuller (* 15. March 1929 in Santa Maria (California) ) is an American jazz - clarinet .

Live and act

Jerry Fuller grew up in California and began playing the clarinet as a teenager. In 1949 he played with Jimmy Zito, in 1950 with Will Osborne and then during his military service until 1953 in an army band. In the following years he was a member of Pete Daily 's Chicagoans and then performed with his own trio in Hollywood until Jack Teagarden brought him into his band in 1955 . With him he went on a longer tour of Asia that was sponsored by the State Department . From 1959 he worked with the Dukes of Dixieland , with whom recordings for Audio Fidelity were created. In the 1960s he participated in recording sessions at Capitol , Columbia and Decca . He has also appeared on television shows by Dean Martin , Mike Douglas and Ed Sullivan as a member of pit bands . Fuller recorded his debut album Clarinet Portrait in 1959 for the Andex label. Gene Estes , Bob Florence , Howard Roberts , Mel Pollan and Frank Capp played in his sextet . In 1961 he released an album of hits from that year, South American Cookin '. In his later years, Fuller played with Style Is Back in Style .
