Jerry Fuller (drummer)

Jerry Fuller (* 5 April 1939 in Calgary ; † 13. July 2002 in Toronto ) was a Canadian jazz - drummer .

Jerry Fuller came from a musical family; his father was a saxophonist who ran a hotel big band in Calgary . The family then moved to Vancouver . After taking drum lessons in Calgary, he studied at Westlake College in Los Angeles in 1958/59. In the late 1950s he played in Paul Perry's band , which had a summer engagement at the Sylvan Lake resort (between Edmonton and Calgary). While recording with Ron Collier , he had the opportunity to work with Duke Ellington as a guest musician ( North of the Border); In 1967 he appeared with Collier at the world exhibition. In the 1970s, Fuller played with guest musicians in Canada such as Pepper Adams , Zoot Sims , Paul Desmond and Lee Konitz ; he also appeared on the radio program Toronto Alive! . In the following years he worked as a session musician a. a. with Rob McConnell's Boss Brass (1970), Moe Koffman (1975), Ed Bickert , Ian McDougall , Peter Appleyard (1977), Oscar Peterson ( The Personal Touch , 1980), Kirk MacDonald , Mel Tormé (1986), Brian Dickinson and Greg Clayton .

Fuller should not be confused with the American jazz clarinetist of the same name or with the American singer-songwriter and producer.
