Jerx [ tʃɜɹks ] is a rock band from Graz , Austria .
Career
Jerx first appeared on the Austrian music scene under this name in 2000. Various appearances, concerts and tours in Germany, Switzerland and Austria, as well as a tour in England in the summer of 2005, brought initial successes in the alternative scene (among others as support for Die Happy , Liquido , Vanilla Sky and Tito & Tarantula ).
In 2003 the demo CD "Daughter" was produced with the producer Reinhard 'Bux' Brunner and in the same year Jerx also reached the finals of the Graz Newcomer Band Competition, which means they are also represented on the sampler "Newcomer Band Competition Finalists".
In 2007 the band signed a publishing contract with Universal Publishing Germany and moved to Berlin at the end of the same year. A year later the album Pissed Off Best Of came out and with this album the band entered the Ö3 Austria Top 40 in September 2008 . In the summer of the same year, the band also won the Xbox 360 soundtrack program with their contribution to the trailer for the game Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 in the video game series Dead or Alive . In 2009 the 2nd studio album See U Soon was released .
Jerx was also active musically for various Austrian film productions. Together with the Salzburg rapper Emkay1, Jerx composed the title song for the film Heile Welt (directed by Jakob Moritz Erwa ), which won the main prize in the 2007 Diagonale film festival in the 2007 category for best feature . The porn actress Monica Sweetheart and the actor Olaf Krätke ( Wickie and the strong men ) took part in the music video "Home Sweet Home" for the movie Worse Goes Never by David Unger .
The group performed in front of a larger audience at the FM4 Frequency Festival 2007, at the Donauinselfest in Vienna 2008, as well as at " NRJ In The Park" at Wannsee Berlin in 2008 and at the Open Air Festival in Uelzen in 2009, with Jan Delay , Silbermond and Selig , among others .
The band is currently working on their third studio album, the release of which was planned for 2013. The publication was delayed due to a theft in the MIXBerlin studios.
Trivia
- The song Killergirl can be found along with songs by Marilyn Manson, Korn and Prodigy on Universal Musics Aerodrome sampler.
- Jerx is also known for her curious stage show. For example, singer Vindaloo gives away self-printed money in a song, jumps into the drums, does handstands at the end of the performances, or guitarist Harii aka TyIckX goes into the audience and lets a guest on the guitar play the song to the end and cuts the guitar strings.
