Jessica Lynn Smith (born October 14, 1983 in Dearborn ) is an American short tracker and former inline speed skater .

She stood on inline skates for the first time when she was only two years old. At the age of 15 she was accepted into the national team. Between 1998 and 2007 she won a total of twelve titles at world championships , 13 titles at junior world championships and one gold medal at the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro . In 2008, Smith was accepted into the US Association's Wheels-to-Ice program in order to fulfill her dream of participating in the Olympics on the short track.

Smith made his debut in the World Cup in February 2009 and reached a third place with the relay. She took part in the 2009 World Championships in Vienna and reached 15th place in the all-around competition and fourth place in the relay. She won bronze at the team world championship in Heerenveen . In the following season 2009/10 she finally reached her first podium in the individual over 1000 m. She could not qualify for the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver within the team. In the 2010/11 season she won a World Cup race for the first time with the relay. At the team world championship in Warsaw she was able to win bronze again. In the 2011/12 season Smith reached a podium for the first time over 500 m at the first World Cup race in Salt Lake City . She achieved further podium places over 500 m and with the relay in Shanghai . In Moscow, however , she narrowly missed another podium finish in fourth over 1500 m. At the World Championships in Shanghai Smith could reach the semi-finals over 1000 m and 1500 m respectively. However, she celebrated her greatest success with the season with which she could win the silver medal. She was fourth over 1000 m and seventh over 1500 m at the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi . At the 2014 World Cup in Montreal , she won a silver medal in the superfinal over 3000 m.
