Jessore ( Bengali : যশোর Yaśor , Jashor ) is a city in western Bangladesh on the banks of the Bhairab River . It is the capital of the Jessore district . The city was founded in 1864 and extends over an area of 25.72 km². It has about 180,000 inhabitants. There is a domestic airport close to the city with regular flights to Dhaka .
education
Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST), a state university for science and technology, is located in Jessore . It was founded in 2007. There is also a medical college belonging to Rajshahi University , the Medical College Jessore. Since 1963, Jessore has also been the seat of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Jessore , which as an independent institution specifies the exams for colleges and schools in the region and reviews the private educational institutions.
