Evgeni Wassiljewitsch Rudakov ( Russian Евгений Васильевич Рудаков , scientific transliteration Evgenij Vasil'evič Rudakov ; born January 2, 1942 in Moscow ; † December 21, 2011 in Kiev , Ukraine ) was a Soviet football player who was the goalkeeper of Dynamo Kiev in 1975 won the European Cup Winners' Cup .
Career
1958 to 1979: Association
The young goalkeeper Yevgeny Rudakov came to the Ukrainian capital Kiev in 1963 via the stations Torpedo Moscow (1958–1960) and Sudrostroitel Nikolajew (1960–1962). With Dynamo Kiev he won the Soviet Championship seven times (1966 to 1977) and also in the cup he celebrated three times (1966, 1974, 1978) with the blue-whites. When coach Valeri Lobanowski started his work in Kiev in 1973 and the young star striker Oleh Blochin (born 1952) advanced to the top international, Kiev also achieved countless successes in the European Cup with goalkeeper Rudakow . In the 1974/75 season, the Ukrainians reached the final on May 14, 1975 in Basel against Ferencváros Budapest via Army Club Sofia, Eintracht Frankfurt , Bursaspor and PSV Eindhoven . Rudakov did not concede a goal and Kiev won the European Cup Winners' Cup with a 3-0 win. In the 1976/77 season Rudakow failed with his team only in the semi-finals at Borussia Mönchengladbach in the European Cup of Masters. On April 6, 1977 in the first leg in Kiev Jupp Heynckes , Allan Simonsen and Herbert Wimmer could not defeat goalkeeper Rudakow in the 1-0 success of Dynamo. In the second leg, however, the Gladbachers prevailed in Düsseldorf with 2-0 goals and moved into the final in 1977. After the 1978/79 season, the 37-year-old ended his playing career.
1968 to 1976: national team
On March 7, 1968 Rudakov made his debut in the goal of the Soviet national football team in the game in Léon against Mexico (1: 1). The goalkeeper had his most successful year in the "Sbornaja" in 1972. First, he made it into the quarter-finals against Yugoslavia in qualifying for the European Championship . In both games, which ended 0-0 in Belgrade and 3-0 in Moscow, he remained clean. In the final round in Belgium on June 14th a 1-0 victory against Hungary followed and thus the final, where he was able to save a penalty in the 83rd minute of the game. But Rudakow's ability was not enough against the three goals in the final against the team of coach Helmut Schön . Twice Gerd Müller and once Herbert Wimmer ended the goalkeeper's phase of the "Sbornaja" without a goal and the Soviet Union had to be content with the 1972 European Vice Championship. In September 1972 Rudakow took part in the Olympic Games in Munich and won the bronze medal with his team. In the second round they failed because of Poland, who also won the final.
In the qualifying games for the 1974 World Cup in Germany, Rudakow was used in 1973 in Europe Group 9 against France and Ireland in the two games against the Equipe Tricolore. The competitor in goal was Vladimir Pilgui from Dynamo Moscow. The first leg ended in France after a goal by Georges Bereta with a 0-1 defeat, but with the 2-0 home win in the second leg on May 26, 1973 against France, which had played with Marius Trésor , Henri Michel and Hervé Revelli , among others , Rudakow and his teammates qualified for the playoffs against the winner of South American group 12, Chile. The first leg ended with Rudakov in goal on September 26, 1973 in Moscow 0-0 draw. After the military coup against President Allende, the Soviet Union did not play for the second leg on November 21 in the national stadium in Santiago de Chile, as the stadium had been used as a prison camp by the military in the weeks and days before. FIFA rated the game 2-0 for Chile and Rudakow and his teammates came to the “green table” to participate in the 1974 World Cup in Germany. The goalkeeper of Dynamo Kiev played his last game in the national team on May 22, 1976 in Kiev against Czechoslovakia in the quarter-final second leg in qualifying for the 1976 European Championship . After 47 internationals, the 34-year-old ended his career in the national team.
Most recently, he worked at the Valery Lobanovskyi football school at Dynamo Kiev.
