Evgenija Gortschakowa ( Russian Евгения Горчакова ; English transcription: Yevgeniya Gorchakova ; born October 5, 1950 in Kirow, died December 10, 2016 in Oldenburg) was a Russian-German artist and curator specializing in painting , graphics , photography and video.

Life

Yevgenia Gorchakova studied philology from 1967 to 1972 and art history from 1978 to 1982 at Moscow State University . She works as a freelance artist (painting, video and graphics) and curator , artistically examining theories of time, communication and new media / focus: literature and philosophy

In 1991 she received a scholarship for Paris and in 1992 a studio in Oldenburg. During this time, her painting changed from abstract expressionism to a geometrically strict circular and ray-shaped composition, into which writing, portraits and scenes were integrated in the course of development. The print graphics - one after the other, serigraphy , etching and digital printing - have adopted these compositional methods. From 2005 Yevgenia Gorchakova began to deal with video and in 2006 recorded a video about Karl Jaspers and Hannah Arendt during a long stay in New York .

Since 2006 she has curated exhibitions with German artists in Russian museums and art festivals.
