Jiří Švub (born September 12, 1958 in Jeseník , † August 19, 2013 in Banská Bystrica , Slovakia ) was a Czechoslovak cross-country skier .

Career

Švub, who started for the Dukla Liberec , made his first international appearance at the 1978 Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti . There he finished 37th over 15 km and seventh place with the relay. In March 1978 he was third with the relay at the Svenska Skidspelen in Falun . At the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid he ran in 30th place over 50 km, 28th place over 30 km and 23rd place over 15 km. In the season with František Šimon , Miloš Bečvář and Jiří Beran he came in ninth place. In the 1981/82 season he reached 18th place in the overall World Cup with two top ten placements, his best overall result. At the highlight of the season, the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo in 1982 , he achieved 18th place over 30 km and 14th place over 50 km. In December 1983 he won World Cup points for the last time with 14th place over 15 km in Reit im Winkl .

At the Czechoslovak Championships Švub won five times with the relay of Dukla Liberec (1979, 1981-1984) and twice over 15 km (1982, 1983).
