Jiří Fuchs (born January 27, 1987 ) is a Czech grass skier . He competed in the World Cup from 2003 to 2008 and became vice junior world champion in slalom in 2004 .

Career

Jiří Fuchs played his first Junior World Championship in 2002 , but could only classify himself in the bottom field. The next year at the Junior World Championships in Goldingen in 2003 he reached ninth place in slalom and tenth place in combination as well as 20th place in giant slalom and super-G. At the end of August 2003 he started at the World Cup races in Nové Město na Moravě and was 23rd in slalom and 25th in giant slalom. In September he reached the ninth place in the combination at the 2003 World Championships in Castione della Presolana with eleventh place in the slalom and 26th place in the Super-G. He was 19th in the giant slalom. At the 2004 Junior World Championships in Rettenbach , Fuchs won the silver medal in slalom behind the Austrian Marc Zickbauer . In the combination he came fourth and in the giant slalom and Super-G in seventh place. In the 2004 season , he finished in the points in seven out of nine races in the World Cup . His best result was eleventh place in the combination of Forni di Sopra and in the overall World Cup he reached 18th place. In 2005 the Czech did not take part in any grass ski races.

In the 2006 season, Fuchs achieved several top 10 results in FIS races , including a third place in the Rettenbach slalom, but in the World Cup he remained without points. In his only World Cup race, the giant slalom of České Petrovice , he was disqualified after a goal error in the first run. At the Junior World Championships 2006 in Horní Lhota u Ostravy , he finished seventh in giant slalom and twelfth in super-G at the same time as Austrian Martin Geretschläger . The next year he reached fourth place in slalom at the 2007 Junior World Championships in Welschnofen, eleventh place in giant slalom and 13th place in Super-G. At FIS races he achieved second place in the slalom of Traisen as the best result in the 2007 season and in the World Cup he came in sixth in his only race of the season in the giant slalom of Čenkovice . In the overall World Cup he finished 39th. At the 2007 World Championships in Olešnice v Orlických horách , he reached eighth place in the slalom. In the other competitions he was only able to classify in the bottom field. In the 2008 season , Fuchs competed in the Czech Cup only in the FIS and World Cup races in Rettenbach. In the World Cup Super Combined, however, he did not finish, which is why he was again without World Cup points this year. In the 2009 season, the Czech again did not take part in any races. In 2010 and 2011 he started again several times in the Czech Cup, but did not take part in any FIS or World Cup races. In 2012 he did not take part in any competitions in the Czech Cup.

Since 2002, Fuchs has been taking part in alpine skiing competitions, mainly in his home country of the Czech Republic . In FIS races he has been in the top ten five times so far.
