Marc Zickbauer (born December 3, 1986 ) is an Austrian grass skier . He became a four-time junior world champion, won the bronze medal in the super combined at the 2011 World Championship and has been in the top ten four times in World Cup races .

Career

Zickbauer started grass skiing in 1998. From 1999 to 2001 he was in the Austrian school squad, in 2001 he was promoted to the junior A squad. He won several Austrian school and junior championships and was international school champion in giant slalom and combined in 2000 and 2001. He celebrated his greatest successes so far at the Junior World Championships from 2003 to 2006. He won a total of eleven medals, four of them gold. At the Junior World Championships in 2003 in Goldingen , he won the giant slalom ahead of his compatriot Peter Paukovits and the Swiss Stefan Portmann and finished third in the Super-G behind them. In 2004 he won the slalom and the combined in Rettenbach and was third in the giant slalom and the Super-G behind the Italians Lorenzo Gritti and Peter Paukovits. He also won medals in all four competitions at the Junior World Championships in 2005 in Nové Město na Moravě : He won his fourth title in giant slalom and second in slalom, super-G and combined. Another medal followed at the Junior World Championships 2006 in Horní Lhota u Ostravy with second place in the Super-G. In the general class, Zickbauer only competed at the 2005 World Championships in Dizin . He was tenth in giant slalom, twelfth in combination, 13th in slalom and 24th in super-G. In the World Cup he achieved his best overall result in the 2004 season . With tenth place in the second giant slalom, eleventh place in the first giant slalom and 17th place in the Super-G at the World Cup races in Nové Město na Moravě in August 2004, he came in 23rd place in the overall World Cup. His best individual result in the World Cup was on June 18, 2005 with eighth place in the slalom of L'Aquila .

From July 2007 to the end of 2010, Zickbauer did not contest any international races. After this almost four-year break, he took part in competitions again in 2011. In the World Cup he achieved two top 10 placements this year, while he was on the podium once in FIS races . In the overall World Cup he reached twelfth place. He celebrated a great success at the 2011 World Championships in Goldingen when he won the bronze medal in the super combined behind the Swiss Mirko Hüppi and the Italian Edoardo Frau . He was also tenth in the giant slalom and in the Super-G as well as 15th in the slalom. In 2012, Zickbauer again did not take part in any competitions.
