You Ji-yeoun , also Jeanne You , (born August 23, 1978 in Yeosu , South Korea ) is a Korean pianist .

Life

You Ji-yeoun started playing the piano at the age of five . She made her first public appearance with Mozart's Coronation Concert at the age of ten. After her basic musical training at the Yewon School in Seoul , she began studying first with László Simon at the Berlin University of the Arts and then with Klaus Bäßler and Georg Sava at the “Hanns Eisler” University of Music in Berlin . In 2005 she passed her concert exam with distinction. She took part in numerous master classes, including a. with Daniel Barenboim , Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau , Klaus Hellwig , Hans Leygraf , Menahem Pressler , Wolfram Rieger and Elisso Wirsaladse . You Ji-yeoun has been teaching piano at the “Carl Maria von Weber” Academy of Music in Dresden since September 2006 . Since September 2009 she has also been working in the same position at the Berlin University of the Arts.

You Ji-yeoun is the winner of numerous international competitions, such as the International Chopin Competition Göttingen (1995), the Konzertum Competition in Athens (1997), the Gian Battista Viotti International Music Competition in Vercelli (2000), and the Johannes Brahms Competition in Pörtschach (2001), the 2nd Berlin Piano Competition (2004) and the International Young Musicians Platform Bromsgrove (2004). You Ji-yeoun received a scholarship for young artists from the Robert Schumann House in Zwickau and from the Berlin Senate through the Youth Promotion Act (NaFöG).

Concerts

In addition to recital tours in Germany, Italy, England and Korea, she has performed as a soloist with various orchestras, such as B. the Berlin Symphony Orchestra under Sung Shi-yeon and the Brandenburg Symphony Orchestra under Michael Helmrath. She took part in radio recordings for Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg and was invited to the Bolzano Festival in Bozen in 2004 and to the Musica Nova Festival in Glasgow in 2006 . She also performs in duos with the flautist Ulrich Roloff and the pianist Li-Chun Su.
