Jif'at ( Hebrew יִפְעַת) is a kibbutz in the Jezreel plain in Galilee , Israel . It is located below the city of Migdal haEmek , not far from the cities of Afula and Nazareth and had 1152 inhabitants in 2018. Jif'at belongs to the regional council of the Jezreel plain .
The name Jif'at was derived from the nearby biblical place Jefi'a (יפיע) (Joshua 19:12), from which the name of the Lower Galilean Arab city Yafat an-Nasira ( Arabic يافة الناصرة/ Hebrew יפיע) indicates.
Kibbutz Jif'at was founded in 1954 by the Sharon group (קבוצת השרון), whose seat was the kibbutz Ramat David .
Nowadays, Jif'at's economy is based on light industry , agriculture , greenhouses , nurseries, cattle, sheep and chicken breeding, and some hotel business .
In addition to the six-class school "West Valley" ("בית ספר שש-שנתי," העמק המערבי) and a facility dedicated to the performing arts , a museum dedicated to the early pioneers is located within the kibbutz .
Jif'at is home to a Hebrew ulpan for immigrants and for those considering immigrating . Jewish and non-Jewish volunteers from many countries have worked in this kibbutz . Jif'at was one of the few kibbutzim that accepted volunteers from Germany.
