Jim Ruddy Anicet Bilba (born April 17, 1968 in Pointe-à-Pitre ), called trampoline , is a former French basketball player and captain of the French national team . He won the silver medal with the national team at the 2000 Summer Olympics . Most recently he worked as an assistant trainer at Limoges CSP .

Career as a player

In 1986 Bilba moved from his home island of Guadeloupe to Cholet Basket . With Cholet he took his first steps on the European stage. Bilba made his first international experience in 1988/89 in the European Cup Winners' Cup. Bilba was considered very athletic, but at the same time too small and skinny for fourth position, but at the beginning of his career in Cholet he looked a lot from his teammate, the American Graylin Warner , who was also skinny, but still big Played success in the French league.

In 1992 Bilba moved to Limoges. Coach Božidar Maljković signed him, among other things, because of his strengths in defense. With Limoges he surprisingly won the European Cup in 1993 and shortly afterwards the French championship title. In the semi-finals of the European Champions Cup, he defeated Limoges Real Madrid with Arvydas Sabonis . He went with his team as an outsider in the final against Benetton Treviso with Toni Kukoč . Limoges won the title: Bilba was on the field for 39 minutes in the final, making it Limoges' player with the most playing time, scoring 15 points against Treviso. In the following year Bilba won the French championship again with Limoges, in 1995 he reached the semi-finals of the national championship cup with Limoges, where they failed at Real Madrid.

At the beginning of the 1996/97 season he moved to ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne. In his first season he reached the semi-finals of the European Cup with ASVEL, where it was the last stop against FC Barcelona . During his years in Villeurbanne, he and his team made it to the final of the French championship four times, but never won the title. During this time he also had successes in the national team, in which Bilba was appointed captain in 1996 and with which he won the silver medal at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. Bilba was a top European player during his strongest years in defense and was nicknamed the trampoline for his jumping ability.

After the victorious French Cup final in 2001, Bilba moved to Greece for AEK Athens. Here, too, he won the Greek championship in his first year, but left the club due to economic problems.

After a one-month contract with the Spanish club Tau Vitoria, he returned to Cholet Basket. He ended his career in 2007.

Career as a coach

From 2008 to 2014 Bilba was an assistant coach at Cholet Basket . For the 2014/15 season he moved to league competitor Limoges CSP , also as an assistant coach. He stayed in Limoges until 2017 and then retired from coaching. In 2018 he worked in the administration of the city of Cholet for sports matters.
