Jimi Salonen (born October 3, 1994 in Muurame ) is a Finnish freestyle skier . He starts in the moguls disciplines, contained moguls and dual moguls.

Career

Salonen started in Krasnoe Ozero for the first time in the European Cup in February 2010 and finished in 19th and 15th place. The following year he came on the podium for the first time in the European Cup in Megève with third place in the Moguls. He made his debut in the Freestyle Skiing World Cup at the beginning of the 2011/12 season in Ruka . This was followed by eight top 10 placements in the European Cup, including three podium finishes and fourth place in the Moguls discipline at the end of the season. After finishing 31st and 17th in the World Cup at the beginning of the following season , he won his first European Cup victory in La Rosiere . This was followed by three more podium results in the European Cup and at the end of the season fifth place in the Moguls discipline ranking. At the 2013 World Championships in Voss , he took 38th place in the Moguls and eighth place in the Dual Moguls.

In the 2013/14 season , Salonen competed in the World Cup six times. His best result was 13th place in Val St. Come . At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , he came 18th in the Mughal competition. In April 2014 he became Finnish dual moguls champion. In January 2015 he achieved his first top 10 result in the World Cup with sixth place in the Moguls in Calgary . At the 2015 World Championships on Kreischberg , he finished 30th in the Moguls and 14th in the Dual Moguls. In the 2015/16 season he achieved five top 10 placements in the World Cup. He came on the podium for the first time in the World Cup with second place in the Dual Moguls in Deer Valley . In March 2016 he won twice in the European Cup in Jyväskylä and finished the season in 21st place in the overall World Cup and in fifth place in the Moguls World Cup.

Salonen's best World Cup placement in the 2016/17 season , which he finished 12th in the Moguls World Cup, was fourth in the Dual Moguls in Deer Valley . At the 2017 World Championships in Sierra Nevada , he came 17th in the Dual Moguls and 12th in the Moguls competition.
