Jože Bogomir "Bogo" Jan (born February 20, 1944 in Jesenice , Yugoslavia ; † March 10, 2018 in Radovljica , Slovenia ) was a Yugoslav ice hockey player who played his entire career for HK Jesenice and took part in three Winter Olympic Games . His brothers Ivo and Milan and his nephew Ivo junior were also successful ice hockey players.

Career

Bogo Jan, who played soccer in summer and ice hockey in winter as a teenager, spent his entire career at HK Jesenice from his Slovenian hometown, where he was initially used as a striker, but later played as a defender. With the dominant Yugoslav club of his time, he won various national championship titles until 1971 . In 2007 he was accepted into the Slovenian Ice Hockey Hall of Fame together with his brother Ivo .

Bogo Jan was a total of 159 times in the Yugoslav national team between 1961 and 1975 and scored 41 goals. He took part in the Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck in 1964 , in Grenoble in 1968 and in Sapporo in 1972 . Ninth place at the 1968 Winter Games was the best placement of a Yugoslav team at international level. He also took part in ten B world championships from 1963. He made his debut at the 1963 World Cup when he was the youngest player on his team. With five goals in six games, he was his team's top scorer. He had other appearances at B World Championships in 1965 and 1967, among others .
