Ivo Jan (born April 10, 1942 in Jesenice , Yugoslavia ) is a former Yugoslav national ice hockey player who was active in the 1960s and 1970s at HK Jesenice in the Yugoslav ice hockey league. With the Yugoslav national ice hockey team , he took part in three Olympic Winter Games and 15 world championships. His son Ivo Jan junior was also a hockey player and now works as a coach. His brothers Bogo and Milan were also Yugoslav national players.

Career

In his youth Ivo Jan played soccer in summer and ice hockey in winter. Between 1957 and 1971 he won the Yugoslav championship fifteen times in a row with HK Jesenice .

In the 1971/72 season he played for HDD Olimpija Ljubljana and in the early 1980s for HDK Cinkarna Celje .

For the Yugoslav national team, he completed more than 200 international matches and took part in fifteen world championships. He was a member of the "golden team" that qualified three times in a row for the Olympic Games. In 1964 , at the Olympic Games in Innsbruck , the team reached 14th place, in 1968 in Grenoble 9th place and 1972 in Sapporo 11th place.

In 2007 he was accepted into the newly established Slovenian Ice Hockey Hall of Fame . Ivo Jan lives in Jesenice today.
