Jo Johnson (2017)

Joseph Edmund Johnson (born December 23, 1971 in London , England ) is a British Conservative Party politician and has been a member of the House of Commons for Orpington since May 6, 2010 . He was already a member of the cabinets of David Cameron and Theresa May and, since July 24, 2019, Minister of State for Energy and again Minister of State for Universities and Science in the cabinet of his brother Boris Johnson . On September 5, 2019, he announced that he would leave the cabinet and no longer run as a candidate for election to the British House of Commons. He explained his move by saying that he felt “torn between loyalty to the family and national interest” in view of the Brexit policy.

Life

Prior to being elected MP, Johnson worked for the Financial Times and Deutsche Bank .

He lives in London with his wife, Amelia Gentleman, a Guardian journalist, and their two children.
